Day 3

Weihnachtsmarkt

I went to the so called " Weihnachtsmarkt" or Christmas market a lot the last weeks. Every time I have a free period I went with my friends, or on the weekends we went in the evening when all the lights were on and there were the coziest and most festive vibes. I feel like in places like that every one is in a good mood and forgets about the stressful gift-shopping and their normal life even if it's just for a zip of "Glühwein" (mulled wine).
Everyone is just wandering around and it's like everything is in slow-mo.
I went there the first Friday when it opens, and only for a couple of minutes because it was still mid-day and I didn't want to destroy the Christmas magic. But in that short time I met so many people I know and they were all smiling and had a good time. That's probably another reason why this time is my fave, it's just that everyone is so happy which brings me instantly in a good mood.

I also love that no matter what corner you turn there is a new stall, that's selling something different than the one before. One might sell the best sugared almonds (my favorite) and the next sells handmade jewelry and knitted hats. There also is a little stage where, when it's an advent Sunday there is a little play or a choir is singing. Behind that stage is a house and on the windows there are numbers from 1-24 so it's like a giant advent calendar. And everyday from December first on, a new window lights up.

Around the next corner there is a Ferris wheel. It used to be my favorite thing on that market when I was little, and I still go at least once. I think it's really cool that you can just watch the people laughing and having a good time and you don't hear what they're saying because the Christmas music is covering it.
