AUGUST FAVORITES
Hey guys!
I can't believe it is almost September! I remember May like it was yesterday. Summer break was over so damn quick. Over the month I wrote down some stuff I liked using or liked in general. I thought it might be boring if I just include fashion and beauty because I'm not the biggest expert in that field so I added food, interior and songs or music.
So let's start with beauty. Because of the moving I had a loooong summer break from may 23 to September 2. I barely wore make up, not even the littlest bit mascara and my skin is just so much better. I can even rub my eyes without smugging anything which is the best feeling. Because of that I have some skin care products.
I bought a body moisturizer from Nivea back at Walgreen's. I'm using it since November and it is absolutely amazing. It leaves your legs so soft and a big bottle is not really expensive.
Next I found an amazing way to save money in fashion. While I lived in the US I bought a lot of stuff because everything is just so much cheaper. Of course I also went to H&M and forever 21 but the most money I spent in thrift shops and sometimes urban outfitters. I can only recommend Thrift shops because you can find some awesome treasures in there. I, for example, bought a sweater for four bucks. Back home I got curious and googled the brand and an original would have cost over 100$!! You can find loads of bargains in stores like that and you can also look online if you don't have one near you :)
Now to a very important topic of mine: food.
I found a book on the cookbook shelf which is called 'teenager auf veggiekurs'
. It basically has some pretty simple and delicious recipes for teens. I flicked through it and came across a recipe called "zucchini burger". I tried it and it tastes absolutely amazing and is fairly easy to make (I'll share the recipe in another blog post). For people who don't like zucchini don't worry you won't really taste it. Of course you can "design" your burger like you want the zucchini part replaces the meat.
Another part I loved doing this month was to buy some interior stuff to set up my room. Of course our first stop was ikea. I bought a clothes rack because I liked the idea of showing off my flannels.. I also bought a little fake fur carpet and a mirror. But the thing that actually belongs into my favorites is a little 3 piece set of cacti which now has a place on my windowsill. In ikea there was a massive selection of them and they all looked a bit different. So if you're a cactus fan you''ll definitely find something.
Now on to probably my favorite part of my favorites. Music.
I am so glad my taste in music changed drastically from chart music to alternative and pop punk. I just feel a lot more attached and it actually feels amazing to listen to it and just I enjoy it without having to skip every second song. I made a summer playlist on my spotify with music I enjoyed listening to over summer break. It goes from twenty one pilots to black sabbath, from Halsey to fleetwood mac. But I of course have some favorites. The first one has to be Drive by Halsey which just came out last week. It is really chilled and I actually listened to it on repeat while writing this post. When I listen to it I just wanna do a road trip in the middle of the night stare through the skylight of the car and watch the stares while the song is playing quietly in the back.
The next one is Caries by About Wayne. A friend of mine recommended me this song with the words "they are kinda like green day". That made me check'em out immediately. As I said it goes more in the rock direction it is kind of the opposite of the first one.
But every single time I make a playlist anyway, the first like four songs are me tryna exemplify my broad music taste and the rest are the same 7 bands.
til next time ~k80
